Advanced Chemistry Development Inc (ACD/Labs) is a privately-held cheminformatics company that develops and commercialises solutions in support of small molecule R&D. 2014 marks their twentieth anniversary of helping organisations accelerate R&D and leverage corporate intelligence. Having developed partnerships with major analytical instrument vendors to provide multi-technique, multi-vendor analytical data handling at the scientists desktop for almost two decades, in 2013 the company announced ACD/Spectrus—an informatics platform that allows organisations to preserve ‘live’ analytical information with chemical context so it can be searched and reapplied with ease. For the majority of organisations analytical chemistry represents a significant investment in instruments and an expert workforce that is required to deliver more with less.  The ACD/Spectrus Platform enables analytical chemists to benefit from the knowledge accumulated by colleagues over various projects and to leverage corporate knowledge to avoid repeating unnecessary experiments and accelerate decision-making.

ACD/Labs solutions are used globally in industries including pharma/biotech, chemicals, consumer goods, agrochemicals, petrochemicals, academic institutions, and government organisations.  The professional services team provides integration with existing informatics systems and undertakes custom projects including enterprise-level automation. Automated structure verification by NMR at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals is an example of a solution that provided tangible returns for clients with enhanced integrity and quality of compounds submitted for biological testing. A project to manage metabolite biotransformation data (attaching relevant interpreted analytical spectra to chemical structures and biotransformation schema) at GSK gave scientists easier access to data and accelerated report compilation from two weeks to minutes. ACD/Labs’ solutions for chromatographic method development have also received high praise with clients claiming improved reliability, robustness, and lifetimes of methods, reduced loss of interpretation information, and less retesting of samples. In support of enabling collaborative, multi-disciplinary research ACD/Labs recently showcased a solution to help teams in pharmaceutical development identify impurities faster, with greater confidence.

ACD/Labs provides worldwide sales and support with offices in N. America, Europe, and Asia.  Employees number over 160 dedicated individuals, including many PhD level scientists, with expertise in cheminformatics and various chemical disciplines.
