Irish Logistics Group establish Footprint in Central Asia
Jun 14 2021
Dublin-based clinical trials supply and logistics group COREX has opened an office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Central Asia’s largest country, developing its capacity to support clinical research in emerging areas.
“For several years, COREX has recognised the significant benefits on offer for international sponsors in Kazakhstan,” said Natalia Andriyevskaya, the company’s Country Head of the region. “These include access to a large ethnically diverse patient population many of whom are modern treatment-naïve, and skilled clinical professionals and patients who are eager to participate in clinical trials. We are delighted to establish a permanent base in this forward-looking country which is focused on the development of its life sciences sector.”
With a population of 18.5 million and strategically linking China and South Asia Markets with those of Russia and the European Union, Kazakhstan’s membership of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) allows for simplified logistics across the CIS region. In addition, recent harmonisation of legislation regarding clinical trials has expediated start-up timelines for studies.
“Our decision to strengthen our presence in Kazakhstan is in response to the growing needs of international sponsors in high recruiting countries. We look forward to introducing international sponsors to this market and supporting the smooth operation of their clinical studies," said chief executive officer Andrey Tarakanov.
