Environmental Omics Facility: Proposals Invited

NERC is inviting eligible UK higher education institutions (HEIs), NERC research centres and independent research organisations (IROs) to apply to the third round of services and facilities (S&F) commissioning.

NERC will commission a single omics facility for a five-year period from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2025. The facility will act as a national centre of excellence with state-of-the-art platforms for data generation, analytical pipelines (established and new) and an expert knowledge base. The facility is expected to support the environmental research community to access and further develop environmental omics tools and technologies to enable it to remain fully skilled and provide international leadership in environmental omics research. Closing date forsSubmission of proposals is Feb 6 2020.

How to apply

Applicants should complete and submit proposals using the research councils' Joint Electronic Submission system (Je-S).

In addition, a maximum of £4 million of transformative capital may be allocated for this round of commissioning. Applicants are invited to include details of any additional capital investment needs along with proposed financial schedule. Capital requests should be proposed using the justification for transformational capital form and included within the submission.

The assessment panel will meet in late February/early March 2020 (date to be confirmed). Applicants will be notified of the outcomes in April 2020, with awards starting October 2020.
