While following global developments regarding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the European Microscopy Congress 2020 committees and organisers currently have no plans to postpone emc2020, which is planned to take place 23-28 August at The Bella Centre, Copenhagen.

A statement issued March19 said that the situation would be continued to be monitored in the coming weeks and months and that those involved with organising the event were committed to supporting all those wishing to attend the congress. To assist this the following deadline extensions were announced:

“There will now be a further abstract extension deadline to 15 June 2020, giving all those who wish to present, an extended period of time to review the situation and still submit their abstract. The Early Bird Registration rates will also be extended until 27 July 2020.

“We are offering Travel Bursaries to all young scientists, technicians and lab employees, to support their financial implications of attending the congress. More information on this can be found on our website. The deadline for these applications will be 15 June 2020,” said Professor Klaus Qvortrup, emc2020 Conference Chair.

The RMS has secured reduced-cost travel passes for all attendees at emc2020, providing a 78% discount on all public transport around the host city of Copenhagen. The offer includes airport-to-city transportation and requires a minimum of two days’ travel. Please check the RMS website for further details.
