Advanced Automation Technologies (AAT), a global platform of laboratory automation brands backed by Battery Ventures, has acquired TE Instruments (TEI), further expanding its capabilities in combustion elemental analysis.
Based in Delft, the Netherlands, with a sales subsidiary in Houston, TX, TE Instruments specialises in developing and manufacturing combustion elemental analysers used in environmental, petrochemical, and industrial applications. Since its founding in 2009, the company has grown rapidly, establishing itself as a key player in the industry.
TE Instruments joins AAT’s portfolio of leading laboratory brands, including Skalar Analytical, LCTech, PromoChrom, EST Analytical, tsHR, and GERSTEL. The addition strengthens AAT’s product offering and enhances its presence in Europe and North America, significantly expanding regional sales and service capabilities.
“TE Instruments has experienced tremendous growth over the past 15 years,” said Pascal Pruijssers, CFO of TE Instruments. “While we have built a strong independent presence, joining AAT provides unmatched opportunities for business development and innovation. Collaborating within a group of highly skilled professionals will allow us to enhance our solutions and better serve our customers.”
Martin Broere, CCO of TE Instruments, echoed this sentiment: “As a shareholder of TE Instruments, I am proud to become part of the AAT family. This milestone underscores our leadership in combustion instrumentation and automation. Working alongside AAT opens new avenues for global expansion, innovation, and deeper customer engagement. Our employees will benefit from shared expertise, best practices, and expanded career opportunities, setting the stage for continued success.”
As part of AAT’s strategic vision, TE Instruments and tsHR will be unified into a single combustion analyser division. Martin Broere and Pascal Pruijssers will take on leadership roles within this division, working closely with the tsHR team to drive innovation and growth.
“TE Instruments is globally recognised for its high-quality analysers for trace element detection and measurement,” said Amod Kher, CEO of AAT. “Bringing TEI and tsHR together strengthens our leadership in combustion analysis, allowing us to deliver even greater value to customers through enhanced sales, support, and distribution.”
Battery Ventures, which has supported AAT’s expansion since its initial investment in Skalar Analytical, remains committed to growing the platform. “We are pleased with the strong organic growth of each brand within AAT and the market momentum driving the platform forward,” said Zack Smotherman, Battery general partner and AAT board member. “We continue to explore additional acquisitions that will expand AAT’s technical expertise and market reach,” added Stefan Momic, Battery Vice President.
With TE Instruments now part of the AAT group, the combined expertise and resources will accelerate advancements in combustion elemental analysis, reinforcing AAT’s position as a leader in laboratory automation solutions.
