Noguchi Institute ADC technology licensed for cancer therapy development

31 May, 2026

Asahi Kasei Life Science has acquired licensing rights from The Noguchi Institute for a new antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) technology designed to improve the precision and safety of targeted cancer treatments.

The platform enables more accurate control over the drug-to-antibody ratio and attachment sites in both single- and dual-payload ADCs, addressing a key challenge in achieving consistent therapeutic performance.

ADCs combine the targeting ability of antibodies with the cell-killing power of cytotoxic agents, allowing cancer cells to be attacked more selectively while limiting damage to healthy tissue. The new technology, developed from long-standing glycan and carbohydrate research, is designed to improve molecular uniformity, which could enhance predictability in both efficacy and safety.

The agreement also opens the door to potential sub-licensing opportunities and collaboration with biopharmaceutical companies and CDMOs, including future development of broader ADC-based platforms. Joint research activities are planned to further refine the technology and explore additional therapeutic applications.
