Among the breakthroughs available in new models of Radwag balances there is a special application of a microbalance MYA 2Y / 21P series for calibration and checking of single and multichannel automatic piston pipettes. Radwag offer includes a complete workstation intended specifically to calibration of piston pipettes.

The workstation for pipette calibration is designed with special attention paid to ergonomics and comfort of use. It comprises a built-in anti-vibration table for stable positioning a microbalance which is used for determining measurement errors of volume in piston pipettes, in accordance with standard ISO 8655 or according to user requirements. The microbalance is combined with a computer containing the database of pipettes, which includes complete specification of pipette’s parameters and permissible errors value.

The system enables: calibrating pipettes with fixed or adjustable volume, single or multi- channel; preparing a database of pipettes including: pipette name, code, tested volume and others; calculating results on basis of average volume of a pipette (channel), systematic error es (accuracy error) and random error CV (repeatability error); carrying out automated measuring procedures with consideration of pipette’s type; acquiring calibration results to a database (in a form of reports from calibration process); printing reports from pipette calibration process; exporting reports from tests.

A microbalance MYA 2Y / 21P used for pipette calibration process carried out on a workstation is designed to minimise evaporation occurring in liquid handling procedures and comprises a specifically designed weighing chamber. The chamber features an evaporation ring and a dedicated weighing pan for central locating of the measuring vessel. Research carried out proved that such design of the weighing chamber for pipettes calibration eliminates or considerably reduces liquid evaporation process, which is essential for correct gravimetric calibration of piston pipettes.
