bioMérieux have announced that its VIDAS® UP Salmonella (SPT), an automated test for the detection of Salmonella species, has been granted Official Methods of Analysis (OMA) approval by AOAC International on a wide variety of food products and environmental samples. The scope of this approval also includes 375g samples. This level of certification assures VIDAS UP Salmonella users that the test meets stringent AOAC standards for excellence in pathogen detection.

VIDAS UP Salmonella boasts an extremely simplified protocol to help streamline the workflow of the food-testing laboratory. The VIDAS UP Salmonella enables significant savings in media, ancillary materials and labour time, while providing results in as little as 19 hours.

“This recognition is a result of bioMérieux’s ongoing commitment in providing rapid pathogen detection methods to agri-food industries,” said Jean-Marc Durano, Corporate Vice President, Industrial Microbiology Unit. Our solutions are designed to help food manufacturers and processors ensure the safety of their food products.”
