The most time-consuming part of colony counting is the evaluation of Petri dishes. The schuett count manual colony counter facilitates this work considerably and is an essential support in the icrobiological lab. The counter was designed for reliable and efficient counting of bacterial colonies and bacteriophage plaques growing on agar or nutrient disks in Petri dishes with a diameter from 50 up to 150mm.

State-of-the-art LED-lighting technology provides illumination, without heat generation, that is absolutely glare-free. schuett count offers three modes of illumination: from below, from the side or from the top (optional). The lighting intensity is continuously adjustable according to the lab environment. It optimises the detection of mixed cultures with different colours in one Petri dish.

By marking the colonies with a felt-tip marker pen on the Petri dish, the counting impulse is realised. Pressure sensitivity of counting plate and the buzzer volume are easily adjustable. The counting result is immediately shown on a 4-digit LED-display. Sample series or surveys may be evaluated with the schuett count colony counter, the average is calculated at the push of a button and can be transferred directly to the PC via USB-interface.
