ACE 1100 Ion-Molecule Reaction Mass Spectrometer (IMR-MS) is an optimised Real-time mass spectrometer for qualitative and quantitative analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) created by YOUNG IN ACE. GC-MS and LC-MS use chromatography systems (GC, HPLC) for the separation of analysis compounds and need the interface between mass spectrometer and chromatography system. In contrast with GC-MS & LC-MS, IMR-MS loads sample directly into the mass spectrometer and can get analysis results immediately in real-time. It can be used not only in the laboratory but also in the place where on-site analysis is required, and on-line monitoring is necessary.
ACE 1100 IMR-MS uses a Soft Chemical Ionization method (Soft CI) and it ionizes the sample molecule itself or minimises the fragmentation of the target molecule. This ionization method assists achieve a simple and accurate mass spectrum.
Reagent ions (H3O+ ,NO+, O2+) are produced from water and air passing through the microwave plasma for chemical ionization of analysing the sample molecules. They move through the First mass filter to the Reaction chamber, react with injected sample molecules to ionize the components. Ionized molecules are measured on the detector via the Second mass filter according to their mass-to-charge ratio.
Even non-experts can get the result with simple software and change the setting of the equipment or adjusting the method easily.
