A joint venture between Biostain Ready Reagents and Molekula Fine Chemicals aimed at the prepack diagnostic and
chemical markets, has been officially launched under the Atom Scientific brandname, which aims to provide products to a variety of industries including Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Veterinary. Established by Peter Keenan in 2008, Biostain Ready Reagents quickly grew from its 700ft2 startup unit and one member of staff to accommodating an 8,000ft2 facility with 10 staff by November 2009. A new partnershipwith Molekula Fine Chemicals, founded by Kevin Banks previously head of Sigma Aldrich Europe, was then unveiled at Medica 2010. Operating from a single site in Manchester, where a new ultra clean chemical and distribution centre was opened in January this year, Atom Scientific now offers a combined range of 9,000 products and has 20 staff operating in its 35,000ft2 facility. Reported to be shipping around 25,000 consignments worldwide per annum, ranging from a single bottle to 20 pallets, the company, whilst relatively unknown in the United Kingdom, is said to be currently the market leader for diagnostic reagents in a
growing number of countries throughout the world, for example in Turkey and Greece.
