BIA offers further savings for members

The BioIndustry Association (BIA) is now offering member companies broader cost savings on products and services from Office Depot since the launch of its business solutions programme in June which ffered members cost savings on laboratory supplies from VWR International. The business solutions programme leverages the purchasing power of over 2,700 organisations through the US-based Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) for both BIA members and UK-based members of BIO.

Kevin McNeil, purchasing manager for ImmunoGen, a mid-sized biotech company located in Waltham, Massachusetts, said:

"The Office Depot program that is offered by BIO in the States provides exceptional value. We took a close look at the many office supply provider options that were available to us and the BIO-Office Depot program offered the most benefits and overall value, including the best pricing. The decision of which provider to go with was an easy one."

Steve Bates, BIA Chief Executive Officer, said:

"The addition of another service provider to our business solutions programme demonstrates the BIA's dedication to ensuring our members are able to access significant savings on the products and services they use in their day-to-day operations.

"The savings generated by using our business solutions programme should more than offset the BIA membership fee for the biotech SMEs with fewer than 20 staff that form our core membership."
