Biopharma Group Sponsors Non-profit ‘Project Green’ Initiative at Local Community Centre

May 17 2021

Biopharma Group is proudly sponsoring ‘Project Green’, an environmentally friendly non-profit initiative run by their local community centre, Unit 12 in Winnall, Winchester.

The contribution allows ‘Project Green’ to launch a free bike hire and rental hub service, which residents can use to improve their mental and physical health, whilst also reducing their carbon footprint. This initiative is a commitment to a more environmentally conscious, greener future and follows on from the successful installation of charging points for electric vehicles at the centre, facilitated by a grant provided by Winchester City Council.

Although the Winchester District is generally considered to be an affluent area, health inequalities still exist within the local community. The Biopharma Group UK head office is based in Winchester and want to do all they can to have a positive impact on the local community. The company really hopes that this project will encourage people to increase their physical activity and reduce their carbon footprint.

Unit 12 is working to become the first community centre in the country to have the lowest carbon output, by encouraging cycling and installing electric vehicle charging points as well as aiming to become fully self-sustainable. With the help of Biopharma Group and other local businesses, the Unit 12 team have now reached their target with the total funds matched by British Cycling. The Biopharma Group are really proud to be involved in contributing to the success of this initiative and building on their planned sustainability programme.
