Jan 10 2014
Staff at Cellnovo, an innovative Mobile Diabetes Management company, were delighted to have won the MediWales Industry Innovation Award 2013, an accolade that celebrates the successes and advances of life science companies and the NHS in Wales. The company was presented with the award, which was sponsored by OSP Healthcare on December 10 at The National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, UK in front of 300 guests including VIPs from the Welsh Government and NHS Wales.
Professor Stephen Bain, head of the Diabetes Research Group at the University of Swansea commented, “This award for innovation recognises the realisation of a potentially powerful new tool for the management of type 1 diabetes. The Cellnovo System uniquely allows patients to take full control of their disease while enabling remote continuous monitoring, a feature of great utility for healthcare professionals, caregivers and parents.”
Dr Julian Shapley, Chief Scientific Officer of Cellnovo said, “Cellnovo is delighted to receive this award which we believe is a testament to our multi-disciplinary approach to driving innovation. It is the convergence of our expertise in areas such as medical, digital, and wireless technology together with a deep understanding of the requirements for mobile-health that, when combined with a very discrete and accurate tubeless insulin pump, has allowed us to design and develop the Cellnovo Diabetes Management System.”
