Science World, a leading UK laboratory experience, returned to Doncaster Racecourse on Oct 7. Hosted by Thermo Fisher Scientific, the event featured distinguished presenters and showcased the latest in laboratory innovations. This was the 25th Science World, a free event that welcomes laboratory industry personnel from across the UK. This year’s event attracted more than 350 delegates.

Among the speakers at this year’s event were Baroness Susan Greenfield, who presented “Creativity in Science: A Neuroscience Perspective;” and Michael Stevens, the person behind YouTube sensation Vsauce, who presented “Curiosity. The importance of asking questions: Mindblowing science in everyday life.”

Dr. Hal Sosabowski, professor of public understanding of science at the University of Brighton and a well known presenter of colourful and mind-capturing scientific demonstrations, didn’t fail to enthrall the audiences with his two performances: “An Explosive Odyssey! Journey to the Centre of the Periodic Table: Thermodynamic and Kinetics – but not as you know them” and “Braving the Elements: Voyage to the darker Reaches of the Periodic Table: Gases in disguise.”

“Science World proved yet again to be an exciting opportunity to meet key players in the industry and learn more about ground-breaking innovations,” said John Brear, representing the research and safety business for Thermo Fisher Scientific.
