Electron Capture Detectors contain a radioactive source and so are controlled by legislation. Ellutia Ltd is licensed to provide a range of services designed to help users of these devices remain within the law.

It is a legal requirement that the detectors are ‘wipe tested’ to detect radioactive contamination of the surface at intervals of between one and three years depending upon local regulations. Ellutia supply a convenient wipe test kit containing full instructions and materials to perform the test. The test samples are then sent to Ellutia for analysis and report.

ECDs can be contaminated by dirty samples and require cleaning, the legal requirements mean that this must only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel in a registered laboratory. This cleaning is another of the services Ellutia can offer.

Ellutia also offers a service whereby ownership of detectors that are no longer required can be transferred to Ellutia they will then be assessed for reuse or disposal.
