DNA / RNA
Efficient and eco-friendly nucleic acid extraction
Feb 01 2024
In collaboration with ProtonDx, Alpha Laboratories introduces SmartLid™, an innovative magnetic key and lid system revolutionising the nucleic acid extraction process. This ground-breaking solution is tailored for swift and efficient viral DNA/RNA extraction, streamlining the essential sample extraction steps - Lysis, Wash, and Elution. SmartLid provides a smarter, faster, and eco-conscious approach to handling nucleic acids in molecular biology applications, setting a new benchmark in the field.
SmartLid offers a distinct advantage by delivering high yields of ultra-pure DNA/RNA, enhancing sensitivity for downstream processing and establishing a new standard in nucleic acid extraction efficiency. Utilising cutting-edge superparamagnetic beads, it enables ultra-fast extractions, producing eluted DNA/RNA from as many as 12 samples in under 10 minutes.
The SmartLid procedure is designed with user-friendliness in mind, necessitating no electricity, minimal pipetting, and just three straightforward steps. This guarantees unparalleled ease-of-use, catering to professionals at various experience levels. It finds applications in PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, LAMP, RT-LAMP, dPCR, RT-dPCR, and other amplification chemistries. Primary sample types encompass cell-free or nearly cell-free liquid media like VTM, eNAT, PBS, water, saliva, serum, plasma, urine, etc.
SmartLid™ is designed with a commitment to minimising plastic waste, featuring cartons and paper inserts made from recycled content that are entirely recyclable. Furthermore, the reusable magnetic keys play a role in reducing rare-earth waste.
