Dunn Labortechnik presents the Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit II from IBI Scientific which was created for efficient purification of viral DNA and RNA from cell-free samples such as serum, plasma, body fluids and the supernatant of viral infected cell cultures. The glass fibre spin column system is optimised for nucleic acid purification from a wide variety of both DNA and RNA viruses such as COVID-19, HBV, CMV, HCV, HIV, and HTLV with an operating time of less than 40 minutes.

DNA/RNA viruses are lysed quickly and efficiently using the lysis buffer, which is a highly concentrated solution of chaotropic salt. When combined with ethanol, the AD Buffer creates an optimum condition for nucleic acid binding to the glass fibre of the column. Contaminants such as salts, metabolites, and soluble macromolecular cellular components are removed in the wash process. The nucleic acids are eluted in RNase-free water and can be used in subsequent reactions including Real-Time PCR, Automated Fluorescent DNA Sequencing, PCR, and other enzymatic reactions. The detection limit for certain viruses depends on the sensitivity of the individual PCR or RT-PCR assays.

The quality of the Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit is tested for each lot by isolating viral DNA/RNA from a 200 µl plasma sample.

IBI Scientific also offers a wide range of further RNA extraction kits for analysing blood, tissue, cultured cells and plants as well as DNA kits to purify plasmids and do epigenetics research.
