Eppendorf and the journal Science are inviting young researchers to apply for the 2026 Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this prestigious international award carries a prize of US$25,000 and recognises outstanding experimental contributions in molecular, cellular, systems, or organismal neurobiology.
The 25th prize ceremony will take place on 15 November 2026, in Washington D.C., hosted at the AAAS & Science headquarters during SfN week. Researchers aged 35 and under are encouraged to submit their applications by 15 June 2026. Selection is carried out by an independent committee of experts chaired by Dr Mattia Maroso, Senior Editor at Science. Nominations are not accepted - candidates must apply themselves.
The 2025 prize went to Cheng Lyu, PhD, of Stanford University, for his work on rewiring the olfactory neural circuit in fruit flies, which altered the animals’ courtship behaviour. Since its inception 25 years ago, the award has recognised over 70 researchers, many of whom have gone on to remarkable scientific careers.
