Next-Generation UV-Vis Offers Improved Performance in Flash Lamp Technology
Sep 02 2011
Agilent Technologies, Inc introduced a new Cary 60 UV-Vis, the leader in xenon flash lamp technology, with improved performance, ease-of-use and sample handling. Supporting a multitude of applications, the new UV-Vis is designed to improve workflow in a wide variety of settings, including chemical, industrial, academic and pharmaceutical/biotech laboratories.
With its unique, proven design, the Cary 60 UV-Vis provides a robust solution at the lowest cost of ownership of any instrument of its kind – the lamp typically lasts 10 years. Superior fiber-optics capabilities allow for remote sampling of everything from bulk solutions to cold biological samples. This minimises sample handling, eliminates the need for expensive cuvettes and increases the speed of analysis without compromising data quality. Additionally, the new instrument includes local language software and tutorials to enhance ease-of-use. “The Cary 60 UV-Vis builds on more than 60 years of optical design excellence from the Cary brand and is backed by Agilent’s commitment to quality and support,” said Phil Binns, Vice President, Spectroscopy Division at Agilent. “The new instrument provides the flexibility of a research instrument with the simplicity of an analyser, at a price any laboratory can afford.” The Cary 60 UV-Vis uses a highly focused beam image to allow for accurate and reproducible measurements of extremely small volumes. In addition, with a scan rate of up to 24,000nm/min, the instrument makes it possible to scan the entire wavelength range (190–1100 nm) in under three seconds.
