New Microscope for Polarisation

Jul 15 2010

The new Axio Lab.A1 microscope from Carl Zeiss is now also available for use in polarisation microscopy. It is particularly suitable for requirements in student education and routine laboratories. The upright microscope has been designed for use in colleges and universities, research institutes in the fields of the geosciences and mineralogy, and in the exploration industry. Axio Lab.A1 for polarisation permits microscopic examinations of
primarily thin geological and mineralogical specimens or glass and polymer samples.

This microscope features rapid, reliable switching from orthoscopy to conoscopy. The new stand for conoscopic examinations includes an integrated depolarizer as well as a rotary analyser and a focusable Bertrand lens that are linked so that excellent operating convenience and error-free use are guaranteed. Individual components no longer need to be retrofitted as they are already integrated into the system.

A further benefit is the transmitted light illumination featuring a high performance 35 watt halogen bulb. The 4x centerable objective turret for brightfield and polarisation as well as numerous tubes and various accessories such as compensators make Axio Lab.A1 extremely flexible. The 22 millimeter field of view offers the user optimal visibility of the sample, also making the system ideal for more advanced examination methods. The ergonomic, compact design and easy, intuitive operation are special benefits for training and education.

The microscope system can be used with traditional cameras, with all cameras in the AxioCam line, particularly with the attractively priced AxioCam ERc 5s, and with AxioVision image processing software.
