NanoKTN Invites Industry to Help Shape UK Government Strategy for Nanotechnology

Oct 05 2009

The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN), one of the UK’s primary knowledge-based networks for Micro and Nanotechnologies, is inviting UK nanotechnology companies to help shape UK Government Strategy for Nanotechnology. The NanoKTN, the Materials KTN, the Chemistry Innovation KTN and the Sensors & Instrumentation KTN is jointly providing the secretariat for a working group adopting a mini Innovation & Growth Team approach to assist in the collection and coordination of input to the public consultation launched by the Government on 17 July 2009 and the closing date is 31st October 2009. We are inviting UK companies to tell us what you are currently doing in nanotechnology and what your requirements are, to ensure major growth within this market over the next ten years.

This information will be included in a report from the Secretariat to be submitted to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to influence and help form the basis of a Government Strategy for Nanotechnology. The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) is building a dynamic and competitive UK economy by creating the conditions for business success; promoting innovation, enterprise and science; and giving everyone the skills and opportunities to succeed. To achieve this we will foster world-class universities and promote an open global economy.

This invite from the NanoKTN is a major opportunity for UK companies to provide positive information about the nanotechnology industry to the Government. Please respond to Dr Barry Park at the NanoKTN via email to barry.park@nanoktn.com or complete them online

Below are eight generic questions to solicit information and the NanoKTN would appreciate if UK companies could respond to some or preferably all of the questions by Friday 9th October. In the report, companies will not be identified. The NanoKTN would also like to include UK Nanotechnology success stories and would welcome case studies for inclusion in the report.
