2009 saw Meiji enter the world of sponsorship in motor racing and it was a great success. The BARC Dunlop Clubmans Cup series reached an exciting climax with Meiji-sponsored Jonathan Hair driving in a Mallock Mk28 EBX sports racing car painted in the livery of Meiji Techno ending as runner up in his first season racing.
Jonathan (see below) is pictured with engineer, Jim Yardley (left) and Meiji Managing Director Richard Fry with the group of trophies presented at the 2009 Clubman Annual Awards Dinner.
As well as his champions runner’s up award, Jonathan was presented with the best newcomer award. In recognition of his engineering achievements over many years, Jim was given two awards: The Tom Orbell Shield and the Peter Colby Memorial Trophy. Last but not least, team leader Richard holds the Rover Trophy, the team owners’ prize.
