Thermo Fisher Scientific has opened a new US Bioprocess Design Center at its Plainville, Massachusetts site, expanding its capabilities in bioprocess development and scale-up for biologic therapies.
The facility brings together laboratory space, training capabilities and integrated bioproduction technologies to support customers working on vaccines, cell and gene therapies and other biologics. It is designed to enable hands-on collaboration between company scientists and customers to refine and optimise manufacturing processes.
The centre provides access to end-to-end bioproduction workflows, including media development, cell line development, purification, filtration and analytical systems, aimed at improving scalability and reducing development timelines.
On-site specialists will work directly with customers to test processes, troubleshoot challenges and help move projects from early development through to commercial manufacturing.
“By bringing customers together with scientists and engineers, the new centre is designed to support more efficient biologics development and scale-up,” said Daniella Cramp, Senior Vice President and President, BioProduction and Customer Excellence at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
The expansion adds to Thermo Fisher’s existing capabilities in sterile fill-finish and viral vector services at the Massachusetts site, reinforcing its role in the wider biomanufacturing ecosystem.
