Thermo Fisher Scientific Announces Price Increases, Signaling a trend that will almost certainly see other providers following suit Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has announced that it will implement an average price increase of 5.3% for certain laboratory consumables products it manufactures, such as specialty laboratory plastic ware and liquid handling products. The pricing change, said the Company, is in response to increases in raw material and energy costs that are being driven by the continued inflationary environment in many industries, particularly commodity materials.

“We have, and continue to have, programs in place that are designed to help us mitigate these inflationary pressures and prevent us from passing added cost on to our customers,” said Verner Andersen, president of the company’s laboratory consumables business. “At this point, however, these increased costs necessitate an overall change in pricing in certain product lines that are most affected. We are working closely with our customers to ensure continued delivery of excellent products at a good value.”

Customers have been informed of the price increase, which will take effect on August 1.
