Leica Microsystems (Germany) has expanded its electron microscopy sample preparation business through the recent acquisition of Liechtenstein-based Bal-Tec AG, specialists in complementary preparation techniques. Both technologies will be used on biological, medical and industrial materials samples.
Leica Microsystems will manage the new product group from its Ultramicrotomy site in Vienna. Together with its other EM sample
preparation products, Leica Microsystems’ product portfolio is now said to be able to cover the entire sample preparation process in the electron microscopy laboratory for both biological and materials preparation. “Electron microscopy sample preparation has an exciting future.
