Lutèce Dynamics has completed the first commercial installation of its VertX® label-free live microscopy module at William Morey General Hospital in Chalon-sur-Saône, France. The system will support research led by Dr Thomas Maldiney and colleagues at CTM (INSERM UMR 1231) and Université Bourgogne Europe.
Integrated with a Nikon microscope and a confocal imaging module, VertX® enables high-resolution imaging of living tissues without the need for labels or fixation. The technology is being used to investigate bacterial growth and biofilm formation in perfusion catheters, a major source of hospital-acquired infections among intensive care patients.
By providing quantitative information on bacterial activity, the platform could help researchers better understand infection mechanisms and support the development of patient-specific strategies to reduce infection risk.
The installation marks a significant milestone for Lutèce Dynamics as it moves its technology from the laboratory into clinical research settings. The company believes label-free live imaging has the potential to advance both biological research and future diagnostic applications by enabling the observation of living cells in their natural state.
